Armed police were called to Thanet Way after reports a man had been seen with a weapon in Chestfield.

Officers arrived just before 12.30pm to a stretch of the A2990 near McDonald's.

They stopped a person who matched the description of the suspect but no weapon was found and no arrests were made.

Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing.

Police have been asked what sort of weapon the suspect was said to be carrying.
