The Mail on Sunday's TV and Showbiz column says the two became an item after he interviewed her for a TV documentary early this year.

It says: "They’ve been spotted looking rather cosy around Westminster and sources say Chiles – former host of the BBC’s Match Of The Day 2 and then presenter of ITV’s football coverage – has visited the politician close to the Houses of Parliament and they are in the early stages of a romance."

In February, Ms Duffield, 48, appeared on BBC's Panorama as part of a documentary series called Brexit: Who's in Charge?

Mr Chiles visited voters in Whitstable and Yorkshire and followed MPs for a fortnight in Westminster.

Ms Duffield, the only Labour MP in Kent, took her seat in the 2017 general election, defeating veteran Tory Julian Brazier.

She also became is the first non-Conservative MP to represent the Canterbury constituency in its present form since 1885.

She is a single mother of two sons.

In December 2017 Ms Duffield had announced her engagement to a former maths teacher called Michael Anderson, whom she had met at a Labour Party meeting in 2015.

But that engagement was called off 12 months later, the Mail says.

Mr Chiles, 52, was married to BBC radio broadcaster Jane Garvey for 11 years until they divorced in October 2009.

They have two daughters.

He is a TV and radio presenter who has fronted programmes such as The One Show, and the breakfast programme Daybreak.

He was also the chief presented for football coverage for ITV Sport for five years until 2015.

At present he works for BBC Radio Five Live.

A spokesman for Rosie Duffield said this afternoon: "We will not be issuing a comment on Rosie’s private life."
