Student, 22, whose body was found in woods in Canterbury died of carbon monoxide poisoning, inquest hears

A student whose body was found in woods died of carbon monoxide poisoning, the opening of an inquest was told.

Robert Curtis was discovered in Old Park, a wooded area behind Dickens Avenue, Canterbury, early on August 17.

Speaking at a hearing at the Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone today, North East Kent area coroner Joanne Andrews said the 22-year-old's cause of death was carbon monoxide toxicity.

Mr Curtis, of Barton Mill Road, Canterbury, had been reported missing on August 16.

A police helicopter was called in to help with the search.

His death was not treated as suspicious.

A full inquest into the circumstances surrounding how he died is due to be held at Archbishop's Palace on February 10 next year.
