Coronavirus Kent: Men in white suits at University of Kent Canterbury campus spark fears

Students worried about the coronavirus were spooked by a video circulating on social media of what they thought were medics in hazmat suits on campus.

The clip shared on Snapchat shows the men walking past an accommodation block at the University of Kent in Canterbury.

Medics in the white protective gear have previously been pictured at various locations in Kent, including at the home of a family self-isolating in Herne Bay.

But after being made aware of the footage, a university spokesman told KentOnline it does not relate to coronavirus, as suggested on social media.

Instead, the individuals are believed to be students "using the on-campus crime scene training facility operated by the Forensics programme".

The university has not had any confirmed cases of coronavirus on campus, a spokesman confirmed.

The video is believed to have been filmed in the Park Wood Road area.
