They followed it, before pulling the driver over in nearby Bridge.

A 30-year-old man from the Canterbury area was arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft and a number of plastic containers were seized.

It comes as prices of petrol continue to soar.

Officers are investigating whether this morning's incident is linked to a report that fuel had been stolen from a lorry near Harbledown yesterday evening.
