Thieves smash up fire engine at Chilham station break-in

Thieves ransacked a fire station by smashing up an emergency vehicle and stealing a thermal imaging camera.

The burglars, who are yet to be caught, broke into Chilham fire station and dealt further damage to other essential equipment.

Police are investigating the Taylors Hill break-in and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

The thieves forced their way into the rural station between 7.10pm on Monday, December 3 and 7.50am on Tuesday, December 4.

The fire service, which says its ability to respond to incidents has not been impacted, is working closely with police in the hope of catching the burglars.
