Canterbury: Three men charged over 'armed' raid on cannabis house in Edgar Road

Police were called to Edgar Road in Canterbury after neighbours were woken by a commotion in the early hours of the morning.

It is alleged the three suspects – one of them said to have had a handgun – broke into the property shortly after 3am on November 2 last year.

The Queningate car park in Broad Street was cordoned off as part of the investigation and forensics officers were seen in Edgar Road.

A van reported to have been seen outside was found abandoned nearby and six men were arrested.

Police later confirmed officers had found a number of cannabis plants inside the house.

Three of the arrested men were today charged with aggravated burglary.

Osman Elmi, 25, of Finsbury Road, Wood Green, has also been charged with possessing cocaine and a handgun, which he allegedly had with the intent to endanger life.

Kerem Bedensel, 28, of Partridge Way, Wood Green, is accused of driving dangerously while banned and with no insurance.

Reneo Shehu, 19, of no fixed address, faces an additional charge of cocaine possession.

The men will appear before Margate magistrates on Tuesday, May 30, in connection with the alleged burglary, which is being investigated by officers from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
