Train delays from Margate to London after passenger falls ill at Canterbury

Trains were delayed after a passenger fell ill on board today.

It happened at Canterbury West station when the passenger was on the 11.53 from Margate to St Pancras International in London.

It meant during this time there was no service at Canterbury West.

A tweet from train operators Southeastern said after midday:" A passenger has been taken ill on the 11:53 Margate-St Pancras at Canterbury West.

"An ambulance has been called but until medics are on site trains will be delayed."

A follow-up message explained that paramedics had arrived but needed to assess the patient before moving them.

An updated tweet form the company, at 1.18pm, said the train was on the move and services were back to normal.

But the train involved had developed a fault while waiting at Canterbury and needed to be swapped over at Ashford.
