A man shot by police during an incident at a house in Hersden last year may face trial in November for the attempted murder of a teenager.

Marc Traylor has been in hospital since the night of February 8, 2015, when armed police surrounded his home in The Avenue.

The 41-year-old was shot by officers in a tense siege in which a girl suffered life-threatening stab wounds.

Traylor, who was left in a coma in hospital after the incident, was expected to appear by video link to Canterbury Crown Court – but Judge Heather Norton was told it had not been possible..

No plea was taken on his behalf and doctors and psychiatrists are now expected to prepare reports when a legal decision will be taken later in the year as to his fitness to stand trial.

If the trial goes ahead it will be in November.
