Home-grown Kent seam bowler Jas Singh signs new deal with county until at least end of 2027 summer

Home-grown seam bowler Jas Singh has signed a new Kent deal.

Singh, 23, had been out of contract at the end of their 2025 summer but will now stay at Kent until at least 2027.

He made a strong start to life under head coach Adam Hollioake, taking nine wickets in Kent’s first three County Championship Division 2 matches of the campaign, but then sustained a season-ending ankle injury.

“I’ve learnt a lot since Adam Hollioake arrived here and I’m excited to be working with him for at least another two years,” said Singh.

“My injury came just as I was starting to get into a good rhythm with my bowling, but I’ve been working hard to get fit again.

“During the winter, I’ll continue to work to become the best bowler that I can be to try and nail down my own first-team place going forward.”

A product of Kent Cricket’s Academy, Singh made his county debut during the 169th Canterbury Cricket Week in 2021 after multiple first-team players were ruled out due to Covid isolation protocols.

He took four wickets in his maiden first-team appearance, including the wicket of Australia’s Travis Head. He signed his first full-time professional contract ahead of the 2022 season.

Overall, right-armer Singh has taken 47 wickets for Kent’s first-team in 32 appearances, which includes 4-35 against Northamptonshire in their opening-round 145-run success in early April.

Kent director of cricket Simon Cook said: “Jas showed many glimpses of his high potential last season before his unfortunate injury.

“He is a tall, sturdy bowler that generates pace and bounce off the surface, and he will only continue to improve as he earns more first-team opportunities.

“We hope that Jas will be just one of multiple home-grown Kent seamers in the coming years.”

News of Singh's contract extension on Monday came after explosive Italian international all-rounder Grant Stewart committed to remain with the county last Thursday.
