The 22-year-old is one of three players who will receive a Test central contract for the first time, along with Surrey's Ollie Pope and Warwickshire's Dom Sibley.

However, Joe Denly misses out on a white ball central contract after a stop-start summer which saw him left out of the Test squad before injury saw him replaced in the one-day team by county colleague Sam Billings.

The Kent trio will all play for the county on Thursday in the T20 quarter-final at Surrey as they aim to reach finals day on October 3. Read our preview with Kent head coach Matt Walker here .
