Kent’s director of cricket Paul Downton says he’s excited about the addition of West Indian fast bowler Miguel Cummins.

The 30-year-old has joined Kent for their first eight matches of the 2021 County Championship season.

Cummins played for Middlesex in the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy and claimed figures of 5/62 - his best of the summer - during a drawn match against Kent in August.

Downton, said: “I am excited that Miguel is joining us for the majority of our Championship campaign this summer.

“He is the type of bowler who will add something different to our attack.”

Kent are away to Northamptonshire in their first Championship fixture on Thursday, April 8.

Barbadian cricketer Cummins has played eleven ODIs and 14 Test matches for the West Indies. In his 82 first class matches he’s taken 231 wickets.

Speaking to the club, he said: “It’s great to be joining an ambitious team like Kent and I am certainly looking forward to bowling at Canterbury again.

“It’s also fantastic to be joining a county with a proud history of West Indian players and coaches in the past, especially with another fellow Barbadian in John Shepherd being a big part of Kent’s history.

“I’m here to add to that proud tradition, and make my own mark with the ball for Kent this season.”
