All-rounder Olly Curtiss, 19, signs first professional Kent contract as he pens two-year rookie deal with the county

Olly Curtiss has signed his first professional Kent contract.

The news of his two-year rookie deal came on Friday, a day after fellow 19-year-old Jaydn Denly had signed a three-year contract, while batting all-rounder Ekansh Singh also committed his future to the county until 2028 on Monday.

Curtiss made his professional bow in the 2025 Metro Bank One-Day Cup against Somerset and, after two appearances in the 50-over competition for Spitfires, also made two first-class appearances in the last month of their County Championship Division 2 campaign this year.

A right-handed all-rounder, Curtiss plays his club cricket for St Lawrence & Highland Court in the Kent League Premier Division and scored 625 runs in 12 appearances in 2025 with two centuries, averaging 62.50 and striking at 99.34.

The Ashford-born player had also started to impress for St Lawrence & Highland Court in 2024 - before he sustained a season-ending injury.

He said: “Having played at the club since the age of 10, this is an immensely proud moment for me and my family.

“During this exciting time for Kent Cricket, I eagerly work towards being able to put out high-quality performances for the first team.”

Director of cricket Simon Cook said: “Olly has impressed throughout his journey from age-group cricket to the Academy and into the 2nd XI.

“After a frustrating 2024, he’s shown great resilience to return in 2025 and dominate both club and age-group cricket. He fully deserves this opportunity.

“He’s an aggressive batter with high potential, capable of contributing across multiple formats with both bat and ball.

“It’s also really encouraging to see another home-grown Kent player progressing through our system and earning the chance to represent the club.”

The news comes on the same day fans’ favourite batting all-rounder Jack Leaning has left Kent for Sussex.
