Batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond cannot wait for Kent Spitfires’ first home matches of their T20 Blast campaign.

Kent will play Surrey at Canterbury tonight (6.30pm scheduled start) before taking on Hampshire Hawks from 2.30pm at the same venue on Sunday.

They head into the weekend double-header, having collected six points from their first two South group fixtures in the game’s shortest format.

Bell-Drummond said: “It’s always great, playing at Canterbury. There’s always an electric atmosphere and the players love it.

“I myself love it, although I don’t think opposition players do! It’s awesome.

“The wickets have been excellent in the past. I always love playing at St Lawrence.

“On T20 nights with the buzz around them, it’s excellent. Hopefully, we will see lots of families there on Sunday for the day game, watching.

“We’re really looking forward to it and we’ll try to make it a hard place for the opposition to come to and do well.

“We know the ground inside out and the fans play a massive part so we can’t wait to get going with our home games.”

No result was possible at Lord’s last night as rain prevented a Middlesex run-chase after Kent made 172-9.

Bell-Drummond was dismissed for seven after the 31-year-old had top scored with 60 from 38 balls in their opening-round four-run victory over Gloucestershire last Friday.

“It’s always good to get a score under your belt in the first game or two,” he said. “So, I was very happy to do that and happy with how I played, as well.

“Hopefully, I can keep that form going. I’ve been feeling pretty good in the nets.

“I’m a senior player now - I’ve been around for a while - so I just need to try to carry on that form and help the guys out.”

England international Zak Crawley, batting at No.3, top scored with 57 against Middlesex while opener Tawanda Muyeye contributed 34.
