England women beat South Africa women by seven wickets at Canterbury

Tammy Beaumont scored a hundred for England on her home ground at Canterbury on Friday.

It was a second successive ton for Kent's Beaumont, as England beat South Africa by seven wickets in the third One-Day International to seal a 2-1 series success.

Cheered on by a crowd boosted with local schoolchildren enjoying an afternoon at cricket, England's run chase never looked in doubt.

Beaumont made a cautious start as opener Amy Jones outscored her early on before departing after clipping into the leg side for 24.

Sarah Taylor made just five as England wobbled on 51-2 but Beaumont and skipper Heather Knight put any fears aside with a perfectly-paced partnership of 154 in less than 28 overs.

Beaumont went to her century with a boundary and added another with the next ball before being trapped in front immediately after for a magnificent 105 by Marizanne Kapp.

That proved the signal for Knight to cut loose and she guided her team home to finish unbeaten on 80 from 83 balls.

Earlier, South Africa had collapsed from 211-4 to 228 all out, the wicket of skipper Dane van Niekerk for 95 proving crucial.

Katherine Brunt was the most successful bowler, taking 3-52, while spinner Sophie Ecclestone (1-26 from 10 overs) proved particularly difficult to get away.
