Originally founded in 1253, and restored in 1906, the priory was originally home to the Black Cannons of St. Augustine’s Order. At one time it was a hostel for pilgrims to Canterbury, and continues its tradition of extending an invitation to the Archdeacon of Canterbury - who can stay “two nights and a day, but nothing more” – to this day.

The distinguished priory and Edwardian country house are offered for weddings, while, for more intimate ceremonies, parts of the Edwardian house are also licensed for civil ceremonies.
