Santa's Grotto in Whitefriars Canterbury welcomes dogs to meet Father Christmas

A Santa's grotto for dogs is coming to Canterbury this Christmas.

Proving that a visit to see Father Christmas is no longer just for the kids - the city's grotto is holding specific sessions in which families can take their four-legged friends along too.

Santa Paws will be able to meet Santa Claus during two special grotto sessions in December.

Owners will be able to book their pet pooches in to meet Father Christmas on Wednesday, December 4 and Wednesday, December 11 between 11am and 4pm. If these sessions sell out, say organisers, others could be opened.

But in a plea to owners online, the elves have asked for 'well behaved dogs only please'.

Four humans can accompany each dog visiting Father Christmas in the grotto, the cost of which is £4 per dog per booking.

Sessions will last up to 10 minutes, during which families can take photos and their pet can pick up their special dog-friendly gift from Santa.

All dogs must be accompanied by a responsible adult and must be kept on a lead at all times.

Father Christmas will be in Whitefriars from November 30 this year in what organisers have described as a 'new magical grotto'. Tickets for children cost a little more than a dog's visit and are £6 each.
