Workshop now safe from risk of exploding

Roads were closed and a cordon set up due to an explosion risk from a gas cylinder.

Fire crews were called to a workshop in Burnham Road, Dartford at 12.30pm where they set up a 100 metre cordon around the building.

Three pumps from Thameside, Dartford and Medway were working to cool the Acetylene cylinder which had overheated inside the workshop.

Acetylene cylinders are particularly flammable and the building was evacuated, along with others closeby.

Burnham Road was closed and access to Sandpit Road was disrupted.

Crews secured the safety of the cylinder by around 3pm and the roads were reopened shortly afterwards.

Nobody was injured.
