All lanes have now reopened on the A2 Coastbound after a serious crash halted the journeys of motorists.

Traffic continues to queue following a serious accident at the Bean Interchange, near Dartford, shortly after 6am this morning.

One man was treated at the scene by South East Coast Ambulance Service.

Due to the accident, the Dartford to Bean fast slip has also been stopped.

Police confirmed that officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit have been deployed to the area, and warn that delays are to be expected for the next several hours while inquiries are carried out.

This is one of two crashes on the A2 causing long queues this morning.

Highways England has advised drivers to use alternative routes if possible.

A diversion is now in place via the M25 J1a onto the A206 into Greenhithe, then the B255 through Bluewater to re-join on the A2 Westbound.

The government agency says normal traffic conditions are expected to resume after 5.30pm.

There is a queue of more than 14 miles on the Londonbound carriageway at the junction, due to motorists attempting to avoid problems on the M20.

Traffic is also being held on the M25 clockwise at J1B for Dartford, with traffic queuing back towards the bridge.

Motorists on the M2 London bound are also experiencing severe delays.
