Amazon to create hundreds of new jobs in Kent across Dartford, Rochester and Aylesford sites

Amazon is looking to hire hundreds of seasonal workers in Kent as part of a mass recruitment drive centred around its huge new £205m warehouse.

The online retailer today announced it is hiring for 20,000 temporary positions across its UK network of 'fulfilment centres', sortation centres and delivery stations during the festive season.

This will include 750 new roles in Kent to be made available at its new fulfilment centre near the Dartford Crossing, the sort centre in Rochester and the delivery stations in Dartford and Aylesford.

Its £205m "Mega Box" warehouse – which the retailer refers to as a 'fulfilment centre' because "the entire [packing] process is fulfilled from start to finish" – is based on the site of the decommissioned Littlebrook Power Station, next to the River Thames.

Pay for operations roles starts at a minimum of £10.00 per hour rising to £11.10 per hour in some parts of the UK for all full-time, part-time, temporary, or seasonal roles.

Amazon’s delivery stations in Dartford and Aylesford are also looking for individuals to deliver parcels in their spare time for between £13 to £15 per hour.

It forms part of Amazon Flex which the company says is a flexible way of making extra income whilst delivering as little or as often as you like.

Amazon’s Dartford fulfilment centre site leader, Priyanka Bernard said: “We prepare year-round for the festive season, and we’re excited to have more than 750 positions available this year in Kent.

"Our seasonal associates play an integral role in helping us deliver an exceptional experience for our customers.

She added: “We look forward to welcoming back seasonal workers who return year-after-year to Amazon and to welcome new faces to the team, many of whom will continue on to full-time roles with the company after the festive period.”

A new 24/7 hour bus route has launched to serve the new centre and runs from Dartford and Gravesend.
