Description of suspect released after couple pushed into river by cyclist in Lullingstone Country Park

Police have issued a description of a suspect as part of an investigation into an assault where two dog walkers were pushed into a river.

Officers are also appealing for witnesses more than two weeks after the incident, which left a man and his wife with cuts and bruising.

The suspect is described as aged between 50 and 60, white and around 6ft tall with grey hair.

He was wearing a red t-shirt with a cartoon design on the front and dark coloured shorts and a grey and black helmet.

The victims, a husband and wife, were walking their dog at around 9am on Saturday, September 1 in Lullingstone Country Park, Eynsford, when a cyclist rode up behind them on a footpath.

The man, in his 60s, asked the cyclist to get off his bike in order to get past him. Cycling is not permitted in the park.

An altercation then occurred resulting in the cyclist taking hold of the victim’s shirt and pushing him into the River Darent.

His wife had attempted to stop the man and was also pushed into the water.

The incident happened near to the Lullingstone Visitors’ Centre and following the incident Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance were called.
