Armed police called following reports of man with sword at Dartford

Armed police have been called to Dartford railway station after reports of a man armed with a sword.

Pictures on social media show officers with weapons at the station, and suggest a man had got on a train at Greenhithe with a samurai sword.

British Transport Police said officers were called shortly before 12.45pm to Dartford station after reports of a man in possession of "a large knife."

Officers from BTP and Kent Police were quickly on scene and detained a man on the platforms at the station.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on possession of an offensive weapon, and is being taken to custody.

There are no reported injuries.

During the arrest a taser device was drawn but not deployed.
