Orpington bus depot fire causes traffic delays

A fire at a bus depot is causing traffic problems as smoke blows across the road.

Eight fire engines and 60 firefighters were sent to Orpington bus depot shortly after 3.30am.

Farnborough Way is blocked in both directions. Congestion leads back to Pratt's Bottom.

While the blaze is now under control, 11 buses were alight at the height of the fire leaving seven completely destroyed and the remaining four badly damaged.

30 other were moved to safety.

Crews responded from stations including Orpington, Biggin Hill, Sidcup, and Bromley fire stations and will remain in the area for some time damping down the effected vehicles.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.
