Emergency road closures outside Crayford McDonald's in Dartford extended for another four weeks

Road closures on a busy main route caused by a collapsed water sewer have been extended by another four weeks.

Crayford Road, opposite McDonald's, has been closed since last month and now will not reopen until August 7.

The road was meant to be reopened on July 6, but this date has been pushed back an extra four weeks.

Thames Water says it has had its permit extended to continue the works.

The closure has been affecting motorists travelling in the direction of Bexleyheath from Dartford.

There is no left turn from Station Road and traffic is currently being diverted via Princes Road, Shepherds Lane, Old Bexley Lane, A2, Bourne Road and Crayford Road.

Thames Water will also be fixing a leak on the same road on July 22.

These works will be taking place during the summer holidays to prevent school-run disruption.

The closure comes just six months after a water leak prompted a similar road closure at the busy McDonald's roundabout heading towards Dartford.
