"A small number of people were dispersed and sound equipment was seized.

"A dispersal order was put in place until 6am on Monday 24 August and officers will remain in the area to engage with the public and prevent any further gatherings."

It is understood less than 20 people were in the area when police arrived.

From Friday, police in England will be able to fine organisers of illegal gatherings with more than 30 people up to £10,000.

On one night in July, more than 100 people were sent home after raves near Canterbury and Maidstone.

More recently, a beach 'cook out' near New Romney descended into chaos and four police officers were injured.
