Crews were seen putting up a ladder leading up to the home while part of the road was cordoned off.

The fire service confirmed they were called to a chimney blaze at a residential property and three engines were deployed to the incident.

A spokesman added: “A height vehicle attended, and crews put the fire out using a hose reel jet and chimney firefighting kit.

“Crews removed loose bricks from the chimney stack to make the scene safe.”

The team were stood down just under four hours later at 8.40pm.

There were no reported injuries and the cause is believed to be accidental.
