Fire at property in Gresham Avenue, Hartley as firefighters called to roof alight

Firefighters battled to put out a blaze after a roof was found alight.

Three fire engines were sent to the scene in Gresham Avenue in Hartley at 10.18am.

Crews spent an hour tackling the flames having arrived to find the property and roof well alight.

Wearing breathing apparatus, the firefighters used a hose reel jet and a main jet to extinguish the blaze, before clearing the property of smoke with a high pressure fan.

No casualties were reported and the cause is believed to be accidental.
