Five-mile queues on M25 anticlockwise due to pile-up in Dartford Tunnel

There are severe delays on the M25 after an earlier crash and a broken down vehicle.

The crash happened this morning on the anticlockwise stretch near the Dartford Tunnel, between Junction 1 for Dartford and Junction 31 for Lakeside.

Traffic had begun to recover before a vehicle broke down near Bob Dunn Way, causing one lane to be closed on the approach to the tunnel.

There are up to five miles of queues stretching back to Junction 3 for Swanley.

Congestion has also spilled over on the A2 near the Dartford bypass and travel time is around 20 minutes.

A Highways England spokesperson said: "The eastbound Dartford Tunnel crossing was closed this morning following a multiple vehicle collision. No serious injuries have been reported.

"The vehicles involved have now been recovered and Traffic Officers have reopened the tunnel."
