Bike thieves stopped by security guard at Darent Valley Hospital

The pair had an angle grinder which they were using to cut through the bike's security chain.

They were halfway through when the operations manager of the Saba car park confronted them.

He was then chased by the thieves before they fled the scene.

Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust, which runs the hospital, has asked visitors to remain vigilant when parking vehicles.

A statement posted on social media read: "Please ensure if you are using this area, that your motorcycle is as secure as possible and report any suspicious behaviour to the Saba car park office."

Martin Very, police spokesman, confirmed officers are looking into the incident.

"The suspects are alleged to have threatened a member of the public before leaving the scene on a motorbike," he said.

"They are described as being in their late 20s and wearing black trousers, masks and crash helmets."

Anyone with information is asked to call Kent Police on 01474 366149, quoting crime reference 46/195252/19.
