ITV bomb disposal drama Trigger Point starring Line of Duty's Vicky McClure filmed on Dartford Marshes

Trigger Point is the latest offering from ITV, starring Vicky McClure, of Line of Duty fame, as leading lady Lana Washington who is an experienced bomb disposal operative, known as an "Expo".

The six-part series was written by Daniel Brierly and is described as a high-octane thriller which focuses on the officers who risk their lives daily on "the long walk" towards danger.

When a terrorist campaign threatens the capital over the summer, the expos are at the forefront of urgent efforts to find out who is behind the bombings before fatalities escalate.

Production visited the Dartford Marshes to shoot a crime scene and police chase, according to the Kent Film Office.

Locations included Joyce Green Lane and marshland owned by the Dartford Clay Shooting Club.

The Marshes border the River Thames, and mark the boundary between Kent and Bexley in Greater London.

It has proved a popular destination for film crews with previous productions shot on location including the Sky crime-drama, Gangs of London and thriller, The Corrupted.

Ms McClure, who is best known for playing DCI Kate Fleming in Line of Duty, and will star alongside Adrian Lester, spoke to This Morning about her experience filming.

The actress said she was surprised to learn that real expos often take their helmets off when approaching a device.

"It could knock the device or it could impair your vision at any point," she said.

"They went, 'well you'd take your helmet off at that point', I went what? And they went 'if that bombs going off..."

Trigger Point will be broadcast on ITV this Sunday at 9pm.
