Representatives of the Thai government have visited a Kent gym to recognise a martial arts expert’s dedication to the sport.
Keddle’s Gym in Dartford received the visit from the Sports Authority of Thailand on Friday (May 2), after being chosen as one of 10 gyms in the UK to be awarded certified Muay Thai status.
The visit included filming of the facility and attendance by members of the Thai Embassy, government officials, and fighter Namsaknoi Yudthagarngamtorn from the Muay Thai community.
Gym owner, coach and former European Muay Thai Champion Alan Keddle has dedicated more than 30 years to the martial art.
During the visit, he was presented with an honorary placard by Thai officials.
The recognition positions him among an elite group of certified Muay Thai gyms.
The 55-year-old said: “I want to personally thank Rittijack Kaewsamrit, former Stadium Champion and coach, for putting us forward for this incredible recognition, as well as those who have supported me and been part of the Keddle’s Gym journey over the past 31 years.
“It’s a huge honour to have the Sports Authority of Thailand visit our gym and recognise our work.”
