Love Island star Jack Fincham, from Swanley, blew TV fortune on drugs, gambling and booze

Love Island star Jack Fincham has opened up about attempting suicide after blowing his TV fortune.

The reality star, from Swanley, detailed how when he reached “rock bottom” last year he blew £40,000 in one day on online blackjack, sat in bed alone taking cocaine and jumped off a hotel balcony in an attempt to take his own life.

Fincham, 33, told The Sun how he had blown £1million on drugs, booze and gambling.

Things have spiralled out of control for the former salesman who won the ITV show in 2018 with Dani Dyer.

He explained: “I can’t say Love Island ruined my life - I did that myself. I, Jack Fincham, am an addict.

“I feel like a failure, utterly mortified by the things I have done. I had the world at my feet, and I screwed it up.

“Embarrassed just doesn’t touch it. It is hideous. I cry when I think about how I’ve let people down.

“I have blown more than a million pounds thanks to drugs, booze and gambling.

“Drugs helped my relationship with Dani fail. I was absent, my priorities were wrong, I wasn’t a great boyfriend. I am determined to change my future.

“There’s times I wish I’d never been in the public eye and just stayed exactly as I was. Destruction was always in me, but fame and money made it happen quicker.”

In the interview, the former Islander revealed he hasn’t had a drink since Christmas Day and is determined to turn is life round, or, in his own words: “I could die.”

Fincham spoke about an attempt to take his life while on a getaway with his girlfriend, Chloe Brockett, while at a hotel in the Midlands.

He told the newspaper how after checking his IMDB and feeling like he had nothing to show for the 30 or so shows he had done, he drowned his sorrows with alcohol.

“Chloe went downstairs and told them to stop serving me,” he said. “She asked them to call an ambulance because she was scared I was going to kill myself.”

And while his 24-year-old partner went downstairs, the reality star jumped off their room balcony.

He added: “I remember weighing up the options, thinking, ‘I’ve nothing left to give here. Not a penny to my name. Nothing is salvageable.’

“We were in a hillside lodge and I jumped. If I’d have dived at a different angle, I may not be here today. That is scary.

“My ankle was purple. I couldn’t walk for weeks. When I saw how Liam Payne passed away, I realised it could have been me.”

Last month, the reality TV star faced prison after pleading guilty to two counts of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog, with one of the incidents causing injury.

However, a successful appeal by his defence team at Southend Magistrates’ Court meant he avoided jail time.

Speaking about the sentence, he said: “I was shocked they activated a sentence for something unconnected. They took me down and got me ready for prison. Chloe was crying in the court.”

Fincham was previously banned from the road after hitting a traffic island in his BMW while under the influence of cocaine.

The TV personality, who has more than 1.7 million followers on Instagram, was at the wheel of his blue BMW in Old Bexley Lane when a woman travelling behind his car called the police because of the poor manner of his driving.
