Gillingham man charged after two assaults and one attempted robbery in Dartford

A man has been charged in connection with three incidents including assault and attempted robbery all in 40 minutes on the same afternoon.

A man was assaulted in Dartford Road in Dartford at around 2.20pm on Sunday, July 11.

A short time later another man was assaulted not far away in West Hill and an elderly man was reported to have been targeted in an attempted robbery in nearby Suffolk Road at around 3pm.

James Philpott of High Street, Gillingham, has since been charged with attempted robbery, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating and racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Following an investigation, including issuing a CCTV appeal, the 31-year-old was arrested.

He was then bailed upon charge and is now due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 10.
