London man charged over Dartford hair salon moped ram-raid

A man has been charged in connection with a ram-raid at a hair salon.

Police were called to the Mark Mardell Hair Salon in Market Street, Dartford on New Year's Day following reports of a break-in.

CCTV captured images of two men using a moped to smash into the store front at 5.24pm.

It took three attempts to break through the door and a haul of hair-dryers, tongs and wands were taken.

A 32-year-old man has since been arrested and charged with burglary.

Gary Parkes, of Frederick Place, Plumstead, appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

He was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on February 10.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the raid, or from any drivers passing the scene who may have dashcam footage.
