He was taken to a London hospital to recover after being treated by ambulance staff at the scene and has since been released with no serious injuries.

Joel Jueanville, of Frindsbury Road, Rochester, was arrested on Monday in connection with the attack, following an appeal from police.

The 32-year-old has been charged with attempted murder and two counts of possessing a knife.

He remains in custody after appearing at Medway Magistrates' Court today and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Tuesday July 2.

Police spokesman Steve Knight said: "Kent Police is continuing its crackdown on knife crime and associated offences, including the supply of drugs.

"Carrying a knife increases the risk of being the victim of a serious assault and officers will continue to take robust and proactive action to detect, stop and search those believed to be in possession of weapons."
