Man in his 20s found dead after police called to Dartford Crossing

A man has been found dead after police were called to an incident on the Dartford Crossing.

Emergency services, including the police and ambulance service, were called to the QE II bridge at 6am this morning.

The body of a man from Essex was discovered.

Police confirmed he was in his 20s and his next of kin have been informed.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

There were delays for traffic heading into Kent due to the incident.

All vehicles were held on the clockwise carriageway for 15 minutes from about 6.50am.

The outside lanes were reopened but the inside two lanes remained closed for a number of hours while officers investigated.

As of 11am, the queues were stretching back more than two miles to beyond Junction 30 for Lakeside and Junction 29.

But just after 11.30am, Highways England tweeted to say all lanes had reopened and the congestion was easing.
