Man’s body pulled from water near Pier Road in Greenhithe

A man’s body has been discovered in a river.

Police pulled the body from water near Pier Road in Greenhithe, close to Dartford Crossing, just after 1pm.

It comes after the force received reports a person had entered the River Thames in Essex.

A spokesman explained: “Officers attended along with paramedics and the Coastguard.

“A man was brought to shore near Pier Road, Greenhithe and was confirmed deceased shortly afterwards.

“His next of kin is aware.”

The death is not currently being treated as suspicious.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
