Man taken to hospital after car bursts into flames in A2 crash near Swanscombe

A man has been taken to hospital after his car burst into flames when it smashed into a barrier.

Emergency services were called to the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near Swanscombe in the early hours following the crash.

Police say they were called shortly before 12.30am today (Saturday) to reports that a car had struck a barrier and caught fire.

“Officers, paramedics and fire crews attended the scene,” a force spokesman said.

“The driver was treated for injuries not described as life-threatening.

“He was taken to a local hospital for further medical attention.

“The fire was extinguished and the vehicle was recovered.”
