Motorcyclist dies after accident which shut A2 near Dartford for six hours

A motorcyclist has died after an accident which closed the A2 for more than six hours.

The man, in his 40s and from the Welling area, was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision on the London-bound carriageway at the slip road for the Darenth Interchange near Dartford at about 8.45pm.

His blue Triumph Sprint motorcycle crashed into a roadside barrier.

The air ambulance, paramedics, police and Highways England all attended the scene.

The victim's next of kin have been informed.

Police are trying to work out the cause of the collision and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.
