Person dies after collision between car and cyclist in Maidstone Road, Swanley

A person has died following a collision between a car and a push bike this morning.

The air ambulance was called to a crash in Maidstone Road, Swanley, near the junction for Hockenden Lane at around 11.10am.

Kent Police attended the scene and the road was closed for several hours following the incident.

A grey Peugeot 308 estate car collided with a push bike and police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Spokesman for the London Ambulance Service Ellie Meakin said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision in London Road, Swanley.

“We sent an incident response officer, a single responder in a car and also dispatched the air ambulance.

“Sadly, despite the efforts of our medics, a person died at the scene."

Investigating officer PC Chris Oliver-Jones from the Kent Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "The collision happened approximately 290 metres north west of the A20 slip road and we believe both the push bike and car were travelling towards London at the time.

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either the car or bike prior to the collision and hasn’t already spoken to police.

"We are also appealing for anyone with dash cam footage to contact us."
