Pile-up closes two lanes on Dartford Crossing

Motorists trying to get into Kent are facing delays of up to an hour following a pile-up on the Dartford Crossing.

Two lanes of the A282 on the Queen Elizabeth ll Bridge remain closed because of the crash which happened between M25 Junction 31 with the A1306 in Essex and Junction 1A with the A206 in Kent.

Traffic is now queueing from Dartford back to the Romford/Basildon turn-off at Junction 29.

National Highways warned in a Tweet: "There are now 60 minute delays on approach, please allow extra time."

Traffic officers are at the scene.

The crash, described as a "multi-vehicle collision" happened an hour ago.

There is congestion on the A13 westbound and routes around the Lakeside shopping centre are also busy.
