A “prominent” village pub, once at the heart of a dispute over pie and mash being sold in the car park, has been put on the market.
The Gamecock in London Road, West Kingsdown, near Swanley, is available for sale or let.
The roadside three-storey building has two bar areas, a central bar counter, a kitchen, toilets, supporting rooms, and a smoking shelter, garden shed and an outbuilding outside.
It also has a basement with storage areas as well as a bathroom, a storage room, three bedrooms, and a lounge on its first floor.
Estate agents Savills has been instructed to manage the sale. A listing online states: “The Gamecock occupies a prominent position on London Road, the village’s main thoroughfare, which runs parallel to the A20.
“The property is well placed within the heart of the community, close to local shops, services, and residential housing.
“Brands Hatch Circuit, a major regional attraction, is located less than two miles to the north.”
The 0.508-acre site is not listed, not located within a conservation area, and lies outside any designated flood risk zones. It has been shut for the past few months, and the only other pub in the village is the Portobello Inn.
The Gamecock, for which Savills says a price will be disclosed on application, will be sold in its current condition, including fixtures and fittings.
Previous owners Stonegate Group, Britain’s biggest pub and bar operator, confirmed the site was sold in August following a “routine review” of its estate.
A spokesperson added: “We continually assess our pub portfolio to ensure it is fit for the future, and from time to time this does mean that some sites are sold on.”
At the end of last year, a petition was set up after plans emerged to axe a pie and mash van venture which had served the pub for more than ten years.

Susan Williamson previously told KentOnline she feared her weekly slot outside the site would be scrapped in favour of an in-house pub grub menu.
Nearly 800 people signed a petition pleading for the Traditional Pie and Mash Company to remain a fixture every Friday.
Such was the demand for the Cockney staple dish, that Susan had asked West Kingsdown Parish Council if she could use its nearby car park for her van.
But members refused permission, saying it was an unsuitable use of the site - despite Susan offering to pay rent.
The business remains outside the pub once a week, although it is not known what will happen once the site is taken on by new owners.
Speaking this week, Sue says she has “not been told anything” regarding whether the sale will affect trade, adding: “I am just turning up each week and hoping for the best”.
The Traditional Pie and Mash Company can also be found parked up at The Black Horse in Borough Green, Westmoor Farm in Rainham, and Sheppey Rugby Club.
