Plans to turn former Wheatsheaf Pub in Swanscombe High Street into cafe and new homes

Residents are being invited to have their say on the future use of a town pub.

Proposals have been drafted to transform the former Wheatsheaf Pub in Swanscombe High Street into a new mixed-use development.

Plans include turning the wet-led boozer into a new cafe at the ground floor with seven new homes provided above.

Of these flats and apartments, it is proposed they will have two bedrooms each.

Developers, M&M Sterling Property, say they are in the early stage of developing their ideas for the former pub and are keen to hear the views of local residents.

The Wheatsheaf sits on a notable detached corner plot off the High Street in a residential area.

Inside the existing two-storey building there is a traditional bar as well as a suntrap patio and garden.

It had recently been offered as a pub with a 20-year lease but it is understood the freehold was sold last year when a suitable takeover bid failed to materialise.

The developers plan to gather views from the local community before submitting a formal application to Dartford council.

A webinar will take place later this month on June 22 between 6pm and 7pm.

Anyone interested in attending is asked to email kate.ross@becg.com in advance to secure their place.
