Rail services were suspended after a person was hit by a train.
The incident happened between Dartford and Gravesend at about 7pm.
No trains ran between the two stations for several hours while emergency services were at the scene.
A Southeastern spokesman said on X: “Sadly, due to a person hit by a train between Dartford and Gravesend, services in the area will be held while emergency services attend.
“You may use your ticket on Fastrack buses at no extra cost between Dartford, Greenhithe, Ebbsfleet and Gravesend.
“Southeastern engineers are carrying out safety checks on the affected train.
“Once the checks have been completed, we are hopeful that trains will be running again from 20:30.”
The line has since reopened and services are running normally.
The British Transport Police have been contacted for more information.
