Arrest after traffic brought to a halt on A2 between Dartford and Bean

A man has been arrested following a police-led incident which saw traffic brought to a halt at a busy road junction over the weekend.

Officers were called to the A2, near the Darenth Interchange, at 2.40am on Sunday (June 29) due to concerns for a person's welfare.

During the incident, traffic heading London-bound between the B255 at Bean, and the M25 and A282, Dartford, was stopped around 4am, according to National Highways.

Around an hour later, traffic was released.

However, one lane of the roundabout at junction two for the Darenth Interchange remained closed until 4.30pm.

Officers have since confirmed they arrested a 29-year-old local man on suspicion of a public order offence, assaulting an emergency worker and criminal damage.

He was conditionally bailed until September 26.
