Drivers are facing 20-mile delays following a multi-car crash on the M25 which left a lorry driver stuck in their vehicle.
Two lanes along the A282 trunk road have reopened near the Dartford Crossing – having closed at about 3pm this afternoon – meaning all three on the stretch are now in use.
However there are three hour delays above normal journey time, as well as 20 miles of congestion following the incident.
National Highways says “delays will take time to clear so continue to allow extra travel time.”
Delays were caused due to a lorry and two other vehicles crashing near Junction 2 for the Darenth Interchange.
The lorry driver was reported to be stuck in his vehicle with emergency services at the scene for more than four hours.
The congestion means motorists continue to face heavy congestion back to Junction 3 of the M25 at the Swanley interchange for the M20, and towards Junction 27 at Epping in Essex.
Speaking shortly after 4pm, a spokeswoman for Kent Police said: “We was called at 1.59pm on Tuesday to a report of a collision involving a lorry and two other vehicles on the M25 near Junction 2.
“The lorry driver is reported to be stuck in the vehicle and the emergency services are at the scene assisting.”
Two fire engines also attended the scene, however no action was required by crews from Kent Fire and Rescue.
No injuries have been reported following the crash.
