Crash on A2 near Darenth interchange

Delays have cleared after a seven-vehicle crash caused huge queues on the A2.

The accident happened on the coastbound carriageway just after the Darenth interchange at around 4pm.

Police say the drivers involved escaped with "very minor" injuries.

Two lanes were closed while emergency services dealt with the aftermath of the crash.

At one point there were delays of more than an hour with traffic backed up all the way to Bexley.

Highways officials said the traffic cleared at around 6pm.
