Delay after lorry spills rubble in Dartford Tunnel

There were severe delays on the M25 last night after two lanes had to be closed after a lorry shed its load.

Delays of up to an hour were reported with more than six miles of congestion while contractors worked to remove debris from the right-hand tunnel of the Dartford Crossing.

A large amount of rubble was blocking the carriageway.

Vehicles headed Essex-bound under the height of 15ft 9in were diverted to the west tunnel which remained open.

The road reopened just before midnight.
