Drivers on the M25 faced long delays due to reports of a person on the road.
Traffic was temporarily held at the Dartford Crossing on the A282, between Junction 1a and Junction 31, this afternoon.
At around 5.30pm, National Highways said the road was shut “due to an incident involving a member of the public who is walking around and crossing between both sides”.
In an update at 5.56pm, it confirmed that traffic had been released.
Police were called to the scene, and there was a 30-minute delay in both directions, with queues also reported in Dartford, Stone, and Greenhithe, and in both directions on the A2.
On the anti-clockwise side, there was congestion to Junction 4 for Orpington.
There were also long delays due to an earlier car fire on the Dartford Crossing.
Traffic was held for around 40 minutes following the fire, which happened clockwise between Lakeside and Dartford.
