A mum-of-three and hugely popular hospital chemotherapy support worker has died after her fight with Covid-19.

The 63-year-old first joined the NHS at the old Joyce Green Hospital in the Emergency Department and Pre Assessment and held several posts with the trust before she joined the Pine unit in 2010.

Jan grew up in Crayford and the grandmother-of-four died after a two week battle with the virus earlier this week.

Her daughter, Chantelle Pawsey, 36, said: "Mum was selfless, she'd do anything for anyone.

"She was so family orientated and treated everyone she knew as an extended part of her family.

"She was amazing and I couldn't believe the amount of love and support at today's silence."

The silence was also held virtually in accordance to Covid-19 guidelines to allow people joined to remember Jan.

Chantelle added: "It's what our family needed to cope."

Jan was married to Nizamettin Agyurek and leaves children Chantelle, Gary Fidler, 45, and Joanne Fidler, 39 and grandchildren Chanise, 21, Aaliyah, 3, and twins George and Sharmel, 15.

Hospital colleagues paid tribute to Jan, a popular lady who was a well-known and loved member of the Darent Valley team.

A tribute posted by the hospital said: "Our thoughts go out to Jan’s family and friends at this very sad time.

"Jan touched the hearts of all who came into contact with her, whether patient, carer, colleague or friend.

"She was an amazingly selfless individual who gave continuously to ensure patients and their families received the excellent care they needed to support them through their cancer journey.

"Jan gained the skills of reflexology so that her patients could benefit from a positive experience whilst receiving their cancer treatment.

"She was totally dedicated to helping everyone and anyone and left her mark with her cheeky smile and banter, not only with patients but with all her colleagues too."

Jan was renowned for organising the Summer Garden and Christmas parties to bring the Pine Therapy family together supporting patients and their families to move forward.
